New auto motor und sport Test: Parking Assistance Systems Compared

Together with auto motor und sport, we once again evaluated modern parking assistance systems. Following the first comparison last year, the latest test shows that the systems are increasingly converging – the quality differences between manufacturers have become significantly smaller.

The test field included four current vehicles: Audi Q3, BMW i5, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and Volkswagen Golf. They had to prove themselves in identical scenarios for parallel and perpendicular parking. The results showed that all tested vehicles can reliably perform parking maneuvers and, in most cases, end up correctly positioned in the parking space without further corrections.

The test setups as well as the complete data acquisition were carried out by the engineers of MdynamiX. Among the tools used were MXeval, the KPI-based evaluation software for objective ADAS assessment, as well as MXoptiCal, an optical measurement system for precise recording of steering wheel movements during the parking maneuver.

By combining reproducible test scenarios, precise measurement technology, and data-driven analysis, robust results are generated that enable an objective comparison of modern parking assistance systems.

The full test report has been published in the current issue (Issue 6/2026) of auto motor und sport.
